Please sign up for classes in advance so we can discuss the
assignment, class size, and materials needed. Collaborative planning and
teaching for resource-based instruction is most efficient and beneficial to
all concerned. You may reserve a time in person; but it is preferred
that you use the public folders on Microsoft Outlook. Go to Library 1 and
indicate the number of students in your class and whether computers will be
needed. If someone has already signed up for the day and time you were
wanting, go to Library 2 (if your numbers are small enough to allow the
library to accommodate both classes).
Computers will be allocated to students based on class size.
We have 27 student computers. The video editing computers may be
used by students if necessary.
Teachers must accompany their classes to the library. You are
encouraged to not sign up for classes for days on which you know ahead of time
that you'll be absent. Not all substitutes know the students' names
without a seating chart, nor do they always know how to help the students with
computer or reference work.
Stay with students to supervise and help them, especially when
they are using the Internet. Please advise classes not to: change
computer set-ups, install programs, or click on
obscenity. After an assignment is finished, please encourage students to
leave the computer and quietly use the
remaining class time to look at books or magazines. You might
even let them go
to their locker for a textbook for another class to get a head start on an
assignment from
an earlier period.
Remind students that they are welcome to use the library before school, at lunch, and after school. They only need a pass during instructional time (See below). Since there is no guarantee that they will get the same computer every time they come to the library, they should plan to bring a floppy disk, CD or flash drive on which to save their work. We have flash drives for checkout and for sale and floppies and CDs for sale.
