New Scholar Academy

The New Scholar Academy (NSA) is an activity-driven forum designed to introduce the incoming students to a college-bound high school environment. Students create bonds with peers and mentors as they work side-by-side on fun yet challenging science labs and activities. The end product includes group presentations as well as a sense of integration into an academic community.

NSA is a student led program. Med Tech uses an intense interview process to select current Med Tech students and also those students who have recently graduated to become mentors. These highly qualified individuals attend workshops designed by our Med Tech teaching staff to teach our new mentors how to facilitate to our new scholars.

Each activity is designed to help new scholars develop their critical thinking skills. Not only does the NSA teach them what Med Tech expects of them, the NSA is also a great opportunity for scholars to make new friends. When our students begin their first day of school, they are not alone when they walk through the doors in August of their new home high school.
